research and contract work; support the workplan of NRMCA
Engineering DivisionLOCATION:LaboratoryDATE OF UPDATE:January
2025SUMMARY:Manage workplan and budgets of NRMCA laboratory;
Improve lab functions and resources to support revenue generation;
Participate on standards committees related to concrete testing,
performance specifications, and sustainability; Support technical
education and certification programs; Support initiatives and
workplan of the Research Engineering and Standard Committee.KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- NRMCA Laboratory
- Manage lab budget and support of facility, resources, and
personnel.
- Maintain lab quality system and accreditation.
- Advance lab efficiencies through technology; increase resources
of new tests and capabilities.
- Plan research programs to support industry initiatives; develop
partnerships to solicit research funding through proposals or
subcontracts.
- Manage and plan research, scheduling, data analysis, reports,
and journal papers.
- Contract testing - solicitation, planning scope and quotes;
schedule and progress, report review and distribution.
- Support lab marketing and promotion efforts.
- Industry Technical Advocacy - participation on Committees and
other industry representation opportunities:
- ASTM International.
- TRB, FHWA and other public agencies, as needed.
- ACI.
- Partner with Industry Stakeholders on specific initiatives as
needed.
- Education and Certification
- Support administration, maintain content of technical education
and personnel certification programs:
- Technical short course; specifications and testing; quality
course.
- Support workplan of the Research Engineering & Standards
Committee
- Assist with meeting planning.
- Report on laboratory activities and workplan.
- Facilitate initiatives related to improving acceptance
testing.
- Support for other Committee initiatives.
- Support membership and customers with technical consultation on
materials, tests, specifications, technical information; maintain
literature references for dissemination.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND
EXPERIENCE:List years of experience required (Using a range is
preferred)5 to 10 years related to construction and construction
materials; research and laboratory experience; other experience
will be considered.List degree requirements and educational
requirementsBS to MS in Civil Engineering, or other fields related
to construction and materials.Professional Engineer or ability to
obtain preferred.DESIRED SKILLS:
- Managing people and workplan deliverables.
- Education and practical knowledge of concrete research,
technology, codes and standards, and general business principles
relevant to the industry.
- Computer skills for writing, data analysis, financial,
scheduling, and database management.
- Proficiency with technology for laboratory equipment and
processes.
- Technical writing.
- Presentation skills.
- Establishing goals, planning initiatives and targets for
